SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Corporate Safety Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the oversight of safety programs across both our Canadian and U.S. operations. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will develop, implement, and manage health, safety, and environmental programs to create a safe and compliant working environment for all employees and customers. You will also maintain safety certifications both at the corporate level and for individual employees, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies and procedures in alignment with Metalogic's core values and industry best practices across Canada and the U.S.
  • Lead HSE audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations, with a focus on NDT and oil & gas environments, including radiation exposure, confined spaces, and chemical hazards.
  • Maintain and oversee certifications for the company and employees to ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., COR, ISNetworld, CGSB, ASNT, ISO 9000) and NDT-specific standards like ASTM and ASME.
  • Drive a culture of safety by providing leadership and training on safe work practices and procedures, including high-risk activities such as working at heights, energy isolation (LOTO), and emergency response planning for hazardous spills and leaks.
  • Manage Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) claims, ensuring timely filing, follow-up, and coordination with injured employees for a smooth return-to-work process.
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence, especially in high-risk environments.
  • Oversee and manage compliance with ISO 9000 standards, ensuring all corporate and project-specific requirements are met.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to ensure HSE initiatives are fully integrated into business operations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HSE legislation and standards, ensuring the company meets or exceeds these requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients and regulatory bodies on HSE matters, including U.S.-specific regulations.
  • Foster teamwork, respect, and a commitment to safety across all departments.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Education & Experience

  • Relevant education in senior-level safety management, ideally within the NDT, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing HSE programs, preferably within the NDT, oil & gas, or inspection industries, with a focus on mitigating risks in hazardous, high-pressure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. HSE regulations, with experience managing safety certifications and ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., CGSB, ASNT, API, OSHA, AER).
  • Proven ability to lead and manage safety programs and initiatives across multiple locations.
  • Experience managing Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) claims and working with injured employees on safe and timely return-to-work programs.
  • Experience maintaining corporate safety certifications and managing compliance issues (experience with ISO 9000 is a strong asset).
  • In-depth knowledge of NDT technologies (e.g., radiography, ultrasonics) and their safety implications is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to safety.
  • Certification such as CRSP, CSP, or equivalent is a strong asset.
